I really like your pictures. The second one shows the depth of field more clearly than the first. I like how the subject contrasts with what it is sitting on. It really puts the focus on the image. Good job.
The first and second photo is of a piece of jewelry placed on a specific date on a calendar. There is a correlation between the date and the piece of jewelry. One interpretive option could be that a close family member/friend had given this on a birthday or anniversary of some sort, a day in which the person will remember it always. What is working for me in this photo is the way the light hits the piece of jewelry in each shot. Personally, the second shot is more alluring and easier to read than the first photo.
