In this picture I tried to use the shadow as a leading line, even though it runs parallel to then to draw attention to the footprints in the snow, because I know that eyes tend to find and look along lines. I positioned the footsteps in the frame so that they follow the rule of thirds.
In this picture I used the darkness of the other walls to frame the mailboxes, and I wanted the light inside the room to further highlight them.
