David Turn showed the real emotions and pain through the reality
of war (part 3). When the government tried to control the pictures from war, he
dared to expose the truth behind the gruesome pain of the soldiers. Carolyn
Gerard said “to manipulate an image is to control a people” (part 3).
This inspired me to take photos of what college life is
really like. No it is nothing compared to war, but it does share the same characteristics
as the purpose of David Turn’s photos. All college banners, photos, and signs
portray college life with smiles, community life and joy. However, that is not
anywhere near the reality. Sometimes what the reality of college is: Frustration.
Homework. Late Nights. Broken ideas. Misplayed hope. Abandoned dreams.
Life.
