I tried several different apertures mixed with different focal lengths while taking the same picture. I thought I would like a very shallow depth but I lost a lot of detail I wanted around their heads. So I switched to a deeper depth while keeping the little bit of compression in the background as to blur out the exact location. I think it adds to the focus.
