CONTEMPLATION
In an effort to best portray the intangible word "contemplation," I made use of the compositional tool "rule of thirds." By placing the subject in the lower right, the viewer is able to see much of what he is looking at, therefore enabling the viewer to consider the idea that he is in deep thought.

DETERMINATION
In an effort to best portray the intangible word "determination," I tried to make use of the compositional tool "leading lines." There are a lot of lines in this photo, and the majority of them lead your eye upward, which helps portray the word "determined" as there is often a goal in mind when someone is determined, and the fact that the subject looks as though he is moving toward where the lines lead helps depict that.
