Intangible Word: Amanda Buffum

WORD: Serenity

The word serenity fits this photo because the structure of it gives the audience a sense of peace. The rule of thirds is used as the ice moves across the bottom sector. The boat, which is main subject is also in the rule of thirds. The ice from the bottom left moves in an upward line that leads the eye to the boat. The color contrast of the boat and the rest of the picture draws attention to the main subject. The boat also has room to move forward in the picture which gives the audience a relaxed feeling. This photo also includes foreground, middle ground and background.

WORD: Frustration

The main subject of this photo is the man with his head in his hands. The word for this photo is frustration. The watch signifies time (in which the subject seems to be running out of). The watch on his wrist draws attention to his hands in which is head is laid. The subject's head is also in the rule of thirds. The descending pews to the left and the white railing also lead to the subject. The switchboard adds to the theme of the photo as there are many buttons that can become very confusing. The dullness of color around the switchboard makes the board and buttons pop out a little more as well. The lower lighting contributes to feeling of frustration.
