the perspective of artprize i looked at through this project was artists in motion.  the former artist works with hammer and copper as his medium, and the latter with brush and canvas.  both create beautiful work in verry different ways.  the first artist is more polished than the former, wearing an apron and isn't covered in his creation.  the latter artist is covered in paint and his workspace is even covered in paint. it's always interesting to look at art, but another to watch it being created before your eyes.  artists use their hands in ways most people could never dream of.  building a new world on a canvas or a useful and beautiful creation out a piece of metal i could only dream about.

When I think of Art Prize I think of community. All of Grand Rapids gets excited for Art Prize each year and it is the highlight of many conversations for the duration of it's stay. Art Prize brings our community outside to expose themselves to ideas and concepts in the form of art.

One of my favorite things about ArtPrize is making memories. Thousands of people walking around taking pictures of art is a really great thing to be a part of.

I enjoy this piece in ArtPrize because the artist is emphasizing some of the simple, often overlooked things in life. ArtPrize is about showing people new perspectives on everyday items, making them see things in ways they never would have thought of.

Art Prize: 

Living in a city where even though the art community is "flourishing" doesn't mean its always appreciated. Grand Rapids has a great following with Art Prize, but sometimes its not just the art that is important. The people that attend events like these are the most important part. There is always art, but not those to see it. With these photographs I find that the people are more interesting. How often are there such a wide range of people attending such a grand event?
