Miles Murray-Gallery

The reason I took these pictures were two obvious reasons. Slavery has always been a struggle, and strength and hope are what kept people alive in history of slavery. A horse represents strength and the more horses a man owned the more wealth it symbolized for him, or his family, or even country. Slaves were never allowed to ride horses and if they were seen on a horse they were killed. Not even house slaves were allowed ride horses. They had to stay on their feet while looking up at their master. The horse in the bottom picture does not have a master riding because we are slaves to something. Something in our life currently has control over us. The master of your slavery no matter what it is looks down upon you on his massive horse showing how much power he has over you. In the roman empire the boss always sat on the biggest horse showing how he had the strength of Rome in his back. Kings rode in the middle of ranks while lower ranking member's horses rode beside him. He was protected by others making him stand out and shielded from people who dare oppose him. I want this picture to show the irony in life. No matter how much how try in life and push through to be successful we sometimes, not always, ask ourselves was their something holding me back from being the best I can be? Am I a slave to not being good enough in life?
The first picture was taken art prize. The second picture was taken at the Fredrick Meyer Gardens.
