For this photo, I was very close to the first knot which created a shallow DOF for the rest of the photo. This caused the rest of the knots along the bar to appear out of focus and create that depth.

I used a low aperture as well as getting close to my subjects to make the DOF shallow, making the closer objects in the pictures in focus and the farther objects out of focus.

Being only about a foot away from the subject, I created a shallow DOF. The grass closer and farther away from the camera than the subject is blurry, while the subject is in focus.

This photo demonstrates depth of field with the use of aperture. By using a low aperture, there is a shallow depth of field. This only allows the first rock to be in view, while the rest of the scene is blurred.

I took pictures of things in nature because for me nature inspires me to do what I do.
One way to define is that Nature is the interdependent collection of organisms that live in an intricate and fragile codependent relationship. I attempted to show this through catching the detail in the plants to so how complex it is.
